Most programs used in CCS computer courses are free to download and use. The notable exceptions are the programs contained in the Microsoft Office 2007 Suite: Microsoft Word - used for word processing in grades 2 through 5 and the Middle School Computers 1 elective
Microsoft PowerPoint -used for creating slide presentations in grades 3, 4 and 5 and in the Middle School Computers 1 elective
Microsoft Excel - used for creating spreadsheets in the Middle School Computers 1 elective.
These programs must be purchased.

KeyTest, the keyboard practice and test software which was developed by Mr.Sandy, is used in grades 1 through 5 and in the Middle School Computers 1 course.
KeyMath, the practice program for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division which was developed by Mr.Sandy is used in grades 1,2 and 3.
These programs are not available for home use, however arithmetic and keyboarding practice programs can be found on the internet.

The free programs used in the CCS computer courses are as follows.

Paint.NET - used to create and edit original art and digital photographs in grades Kinder through 5 and in the Middle School Computers 1 elective. 

Download Paint.NET (at no cost) from web page, http://www.dotpdn.com/downloads/pdn.html

The install program downloads as a zip file requiring WinZip or similar program to extract the install file, Paint.NET 4.0.5.Install.exe. Extract the file to a convenient location then click on it to install Paint.NET.


Audacity - used to record and edit sound clips in the Middle School Computers 1 elective. Download from http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/

MuseScore
- used to compose music in the Middle School Computers 1 elective. Download from https://musescore.org/

Scratch - a computer programming environment with a graphical interface used in grades 2 through 5 and in the Middle School Computers 1 course. Download Scratch 1.4 from http://scratch.mit.edu/scratch_1.4/ or use Scratch 2.0 online at http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/editor/?tip_bar=getStarted

BYOB/SNAP! - a computer programming environment with a graphical interface (similar to Scratch) used in the Middle School Computers 2 course. Download BYOB 3.1.1 from http://byob.berkeley.edu/  or use SNAP! 4.0 on-line at http://byob.berkeley.edu/

Sketchup Make 2015 - a 3D drawing/design program used to create 3D models of houses, mechanical parts and objects for 3D video games. This program is used in the Middle School Computers 3, the 3D Design course. Download the free Windows or Mac OS X  version from http://www.sketchup.com/download/all
